Hannah Arendt at Cinemas

Hannah Arendt is a 2012 German-Luxembourgian-French biographical drama film about German-Jewish philosopher and political theorist Hannah Arendt directed by Margarethe von Trotta and starring Barbara Sukowa.
Political theorist and émigré Jew Hannah Arendt coined the term ‘the banality of evil’ in the early 60s, arguing that the Holocaust was a result of pen-pushing bureaucracy not inherent malevolence. As this biopic details, her opinion was not appreciated by everyone. Director Margarethe von Trotta and actress Barbara Sukowa have experience in the strong female biopic stakes with 1986’s Rosa Luxemburg.
