Daumier (1808-1879): Visions of Paris

Dates: 26/10/2013 Royal Academy, London
Honoré Daumier can be seen as a kind of 19th-century Steve Bell. He was heralded by Baudelaire one of the most important men in Modern art, and spent time in prison for his caricatures of King Louis-Philippe (as a pear-shaped giant). This retrospective includes paintings and sculpture alongside his more famous satirical illustrations.
