Grouper - Ruins

Liz Harris recorded her latest record while on an artist's residency in Portugal, its name a reference to the dilapidated estates through which she hiked daily. It is stripped back to bare bones, and it sounds vulnerable and pure. Known for an atmospheric back catalogue defined by dense, overwhelming use of reverb and tape hiss, Ruins is the most stripped back record to date by the acclaimed sound artist, written and recorded solely on a piano and chanellling, in her words, ‘a lot of political anger and emotional garbage'.
