The retired senior superindent  from KSEB, Dasan  suffered a heart attack at around 10 pm on Sunday. Dasan was rushed to the hospital but his life could not be saved. It was only a few days ago that Dasan reached Kochi from his native place Kozhikode with a bag of invitation letters to art lovers. "An exhibition of my paintings will be held at the Art Centre, Durbar Hall, from July 11-13," read the invitation. However, Dasan left the world even before his exhibition was over.
Dasan had reached Kochi, along with his wife Sathi Pateri, on July 8. He was staying at a hotel in the city and suffered a heart attack while at the hotel.  Although Dasan had conducted several exhibitions in Kozhikode, it was his first in the city. He had high hopes about the exhibition in the land of Binneale. Dasan was very much involved with his exhibition and was seen asking visitors to bring their friends to see the paintings.
The theme of Dasan's painting were about the distortion of Kerala's natural beauty. He also used his pictures to express his resentment against the excessive use of alcohol and drugs in the society.
The exhibition of Dasan's paintings continued even on Monday. There was none to inform the visitors about the artist's death. However, artist Minu Ninan, who was holding another exhibition in the next gallery, came to know of Dasan's death and shared it with art lovers.

Dasan is survived by his wife Sathi and two sons - Sangeeth, Nishad. He was cremated at his home in Kakkodi.
